Medina Residence

This light-infused Medina residence sits lakeside on Lake Washington.  The intent of this large-scale remodel and addition was to provide a place for the homeowner’s eclectic art collection while offering the opportunity to incorporate art into the actual design of the house.  Additionally, the owner wanted a place where family and friends would feel welcome.  This was accomplished by effectively dividing the casual and formal areas between two floors.  We extensively collaborated with the owner to integrate several new art pieces into the home such as hand carved dining room doors and a beautiful glass wall separating the hallways from the dining room using a steel framework incorporated with mahogany cabinetry.  The design also included extensive use of architectural concrete counterbalanced with wood and steel (one of our specialties)  The lower floor is radiant-heated, tinted concrete while the majority of the exterior of the home is stucco along with metal used for the curved walls and staircases.  The homeowner and our firm together crafted the beautiful master bathroom, which incorporates a custom-designed revolving mirror.  The home functions as a showcase for art as well as a warm and inviting family home for children and friends.
